Cha Cha

Cha cha is both a music genre and dance style with Cuban roots. As a music genre it’s incredibly popular all over the world with many different flavors, but the one common thing they all have is the “cha cha” section of the music. The count goes 1234&5678&, which can also be expressed as 123 cha cha 567 cha cha. Cha cha is also an onomatopoeia of the 4& steps, meaning the sound the feet make when doing the cha cha part of the step.

There are multiple styles of dancing cha cha. It can start on 1 or on 2. Being that it descends from another style called mambo, it has many similarities to salsa, so those who know salsa should be able to pick up cha cha relatively easily.

Where to learn?
